Xiao Ya Tou in Tanjong Pagar

4 Girls went on a date one day and we decide to drop by Xiao Ya Tou to try out the fusion dishes. Here are what we had and I must say the price tag isn't wallet friendly. Food Quality is there but I wish that there was more WOW factor.

The cute yet nostalgic posters hanging on all walls, Chinese Lanterns and metal gates. If you look closely at the posters, you might find something interesting too! I'm not going to spoil the fun for you.

Complimentary Achar from the restaurant, sourish and spicy at the same time. A great appetizer to start with!

I absolutely love the Crispy Otak Otak Rolls ($12). The Otak packed a punch and complimented the crispy skin wrapped around. I would gladly order another plate of this to go with beer.

Thanks to the staff's recommendation, we ordered the Drunken Flower Clams ($23). The broth was sweet and addictive with a slight spicy kick. The clams were yummy and it was a huge bowl for $23!

For Mains, we ordered the XYT Hokkien Mee ($16) which is Xiao Ya Tou's version of Stir- Fried Hokkien Mee. I must say this is an expensive Hokkien Mee. Though the flavour of the broth was present in every mouthful, I feel that we could always get a cheaper alternative outside.

We also ordered the XYT Lu Rou Fan ($13). This is no typical Lu Rou Fan, it is made from braised Wagyu Beef and served with a poached egg.

Let's try the Char Siew shall we? The Kurobuta Char Siew ($19) did not amaze us thou the charred bits were really addictive.

We need a balance diet guys, so we ordered the Spicy Brussels Sprouts ($14). It consist of Minced Chicken, Chye Po and Chilli Jam. I really hate eating Brussels Sprouts but the one at XYT made it really enjoyable, maybe it's the mince chicken and Chye Po mixture.

Something to share: The White Sangria ($69) is made up of white wine, green apple, passion fruit, peach, orange, lime and lemon. We loved the fruity blast mixed in the white wine, A good balance overall.

Barashi-Tei New Menu - Foie Gras Sushi

New Menu Sharing Time. Do you remember Barashi-Tei? They have great quality offerings and pocket friendly prices. Today I am going to share with you some of the new items that they have.

Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab ($12.80), It remained crisp to bite even though we took awhile for photo taking and chatting around. It does not have the oily taste as many of the other soft shell crab dishes I've had before.

Ika Kabayaki ($16.80), This is a beautifully grilled squid which i did not get to try due to my allergy however I heard great response from my fellow diners that it was not over done and not rubbery.

Unagi Don ($18.80) came with a HUGE piece of Unagi on a bed of delicious Japanese rice. The unagi tasted fresh and was grilled evenly. Due to the size of the unagi, you can be sure that there is enough unagi in every mouthful to finish this bowl of goodness.

Chawanmushi Buddies, Chawanmushi ($4.80) & Ikura chawamushi ($6.80), the only dilemma will be whether to get the one with or without salmon roe. Haha. Popping goodness in your mouth.

Let's go on a roll with the beautifully crafted Unagi Salmon Mentai Maki ($14.80) or the Spicy Salmon Maki ($14.80). I personally love the Spicy Salmon Maki more due to the special kick from the special sauce and the tempura prawn wrapped within.

Highlight of the night, Foie Gras sushi ($15.80 for 2 piece) I was introduced to foie gras many years back and i still love it till date. The foie gras sushi from Barashi-Tei was thick and deliciously creamy in every mouthful.

For the friends out there who are looking for value for money sashimi, the Moriawase 12 piece ($28) from Barashi-Tei will definitely be worth every penny.

Something for the Nabe Lovers, Fresh Salmon Head Hotpot Ishikari Nabe Set ($18.80) is a unique twist on the normal type of Japanese hotpots that we know of. The fresh broth is loaded with vermicelli, Wakame, Mushrooms and tofu.

No visit to Barashi-Tei would be complete without ordering a serving of their Homemade Tamagoyaki ($5). It has the perfect blend of eggy flavour and sweetness. I would say that it is juicy too, I'm really not good at describing the texture but you will have to try this for yourself!

Urban Decay VICE Special Effects & Jean-Michel Basquiat Collection.

Hello Hello, I'm back with another make up product post. These few months I have been going crazy buying loads of Lip products and I have 8 more coming from the U.S. Those swatches will be up soon. But first, let me share with you my new found lip magic product from Urban Decay.

I first saw these babies when my girl friend shared it with me and I went to google more about it and hence it ended up in my lip product collection. #thanksbabe They are the Urban Decay VICE Special Effects Lip Coat in Copy Cat and White Lie. They retail at $30 each and only 20 shades are available at Sephora ION. For the full range, you have to visit Urban Decay stores.

I went crazy swatching in the Urban Decay store in Taka.

Afew days later, the Urban Decay x Jean-Michel Basquiat collection was launched and another girl friend of mine shared the swatches in our group chat, and then this beautiful shade, Epigram landed in my collection too. A beautiful warm tone which looks absoultely amazing on light - medium skin tone for me.

Here's a swatch of Copy Cat on top and White Lie below. Base colour is MUM-BAI from Australis Cosmetics.

Here are the swatches on my arm. White Lie looks really mesmerizing on a dark lip and you can wear Copy Cat on its own or on top a nude lip. The UD x Jean-Michel Lipstick glides on smoothly and it is pretty pigmented in my opinion.

Some people might think that these products are too loud and "crazy". I do understand that I can't wear the special effects look to work but I can wear it to a dinner date or for a party look right? It's all up to your personal preference on style and how you feel.

Thanks for reading and I'll see you again soon.

Tom Yum Goong Hair with Artistry Hair Professional.

Sawadeeka Everyone!

I'm back from Bangkok and of course I could not go travelling without getting my hair done to snap awesome pictures overseas! I booked Elein 1 day before I fly so that my hair would be the freshest it can get. Hahaha! This time for my visit to The Land of Smiles, I told Elein that I want to go bright! She recommended a layered dye method which included 4 different shades of red in my hair which would should up differently each time I flip my hair or tie up my hair, multi-dimensional I would say.

Here is the finished results, can you spot the different colours?

Elein did a thai-riffic job with the colours this time again. I love how bright and vibrant the colour was. My hair did not die this time as Elein made sure to include a treatment session for me to nourish my hair. She even recommended me a colour shampoo specially for coloured hair and it comes in many different shades like Red, Blue, Silver Ash etc. You can call Elein up to check.

Favourite Drug Store Brand Liquid Lip Singapore

I'm finally had the time to sit down and swatch these babies for you guys. I love these Australis Velourlips Matte Lip Cream. I first found them at a Watson's Roadshow and I'm since opened to the world of liquid lip. Although these do not have the best formula, they are definitely kiss proof. They are a little on the dry side and dry a little sticky but that's all that you have to complaint about. And with the Watson sales going on almost every other day, you are sure to get them at less than original price!

Take a look at my collection.

Swatches here on my lighter skin tone (below) and a darker skin tone (top) courtesy of my sister's hand.

Do you have your favourite drug store Liquid Lipstick to share with me? Or what are your highly recommend liquid lipstick brand and shade?
Share with me below or on my social media account @Michhysaurous.
